Welcome to the Western Digital HF Net.
This West-of-the-Rockies digital traffic net endeavors to reach out to Amateur radio stations and provide traffic relay
service:
â In times of poor voice propagation;
â In circumstances where accurate information needs to get through;
â To pass non-trivial traffic and QSTs to participating stations;
â To relay non-trivial information to remote stations;
â And to relay traffic for stations in challenging situations.
We serve the entire amateur radio community and can use our NBEMS capabilities and relay locations to assist voice
nets, mobile stations, QRP stations and to check DX and propagation. We are not an end-to-end system like NTS, we
are an FLDigi-based relay net for those using sound card systems. We can also forward your traffic beyond our net
(see below).
All stations are welcomed.
IMPORTANT: It will be assumed that your traffic is Routine (no need to announce Routine) unless the Priority word is
added. PLEASE ONLY USE PRIORITY FOR URGENT TRAFFIC. We will drop everything and deal with that traffic before
anything else.
HOW TO BREAK
If you need to break in, there are two methods. You can send a brief TUNE signal in between any TX or you can use
Video ID just above or below *only NCS is not TXing.* NCS will acknowledge your break immediately to see what you
need.
HOW TO SEND TRAFFIC AND QSTs
Please keep your traffic as brief as possible! Following the conventions established by the ORCA Net, longer QSTs
should be sent via FLAmp or FLMessage. Shorter traffic may be sent by KBD or FLMsg.
When you check in use Pre-Tune or Video ID (to prevent doubles) then, if clear, send the following:

NOTE: If you have traffic that needs to be forwarded beyond this net, check in with:

Band is kind of noisy here, but still very good copy on the ops tonight.
Another shack update: Carl km6liq showed up and delivered an Ameritron AL-80A amplifier I received from KW6JIM’s
(Jim) estate. He then completed the wiring of a 120VAC outlet and a 240VAC outlet (with a REAL GROUND!) in the
shack for me. My line voltage is 237 volts
Last night I pondered on how to create horizontal space for the amp. I had a TV and my APRS gear on my little stand
for years. Finally, I decided I would put the APRS under this desk and remove the TV. Nothing like moving “wireless”
equipment around the shack! But now there is new space for the amp. In a queer twist of fate, my normally
megamessy ham shack is about as tidy as it will EVER BE! heehee
Had a good day here with lots of sun. The downside is that we had quite a bit of wind and more forceful winds
forecast for tomorromu,eI,o1oegnh-j¬eeping my shack at full power!

Sadly, here in Humboldt county, many businesses have decided to permanently close their doors, from Yoga instructi
on to a local Apple computer shop. On the upside, many new jobs have been created for delivery people for stores,
services, and restaurants. Local marijuana business seems to be booming (sadly.)
Humboldt and Del Norta Covid-19 numbers are still rising rapidly. . .
