< K6ETA SRI if I crash agn someone will need to take NCS…
Trying one more time!
QST < K6ETA / NCS
Welcome to the Western Digital Net.
This West-of-the-Rockies digital traffic net endeavors to reach out to Amateur radio stations and provide traffic relay service:
— In times of poor voice propagation;
— In circumstances where accurate information needs to get through;
— To pass non-trivial traffic and QSTs to participating stations;
— To relay non-trivial information to remote stations;
— And to relay traffic for stations in challenging situations.
We serve the entire amateur radio community and can use our NBEMS capabilities and relay locations to assist voice nets, mobile stations, QRP stations and to
check DX and propagation. We are an FLDigi-based relay net for those using sound card systems. We can also forward your traffic beyond our net (see below).
All stations are welcomed.
HOW TO BREAK
If you need to break in, there are two methods. You can send a brief TUNE signal in between any TX or you can use Video ID just above or below *only when NCS
is not TXing.* NCS will acknowledge your break immediately to see what you need.
HOW TO SEND TRAFFIC AND QSTs
Please keep your traffic as brief as possible! Longer QSTs should be sent via FLAmp or FLMessage. Shorter traffic may be sent by KBD or FLMsg.
PLEASE TURN OFF AFC (bottom right of FLDigi)
When you check in use Pre-Tune or Video ID (to prevent doubles) then, if clear, send the following:
URCALL URName [ QRU | QNX | QST | QTC > CALLSIGN ]
QRU = available for Relays and Comments Round
QNX = In & Out (inactive)
Please wait to be acknowledged. Traffic and QSTs will be queued.
Once the traffic round is complete, NCS will call each station who have QSTs. Comments will follow.
Standby as I correct my Freq!

BAD!
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is now on the ground in Oregon to help the thousands of people impacted by the massive wildfires that are still
burning across the state.
State officials have plenty of federal money to immediately provide free hotels rooms or apartments to every family displaced from their homes.
Anyone “adversely affected” by the wildfires to register with the federal agency by calling 1-800-621-3362 or going online to DisasterAssistance.gov.

Steve K6ETA/NCS… Rosters are increasing nicely. Webpage suggests Ck-In 4 QTC = ‘… QTC NTS’. Preamble suggests = ‘…QTC CALLSIGN’.
Since COVID19 has us mostly @ home these days, Mindy has taken up baking. She bakes every three days. Excellent Sandwich, Cinnamon, Bannana, and Zuchini
breads. Between garden, orchard, Chickens, and the Baker, our menu is better than ever.
Brad WA7HHE’s QST is certainly welcome news 4 Oregon. Good to see FEMA coming with some $ to help displaced residents. Oregon Officials have been
declining Federal assistance.
Good on Matt WA7WWW for helping run the net. Most of the NCS tasks are easy, especially when you only do one at a time while learning. BTN < Doug K7KY

Very little trace of smoke here today, which is a welcome relief.
Mostly had mist this morning and marine layer which broke off this
pm for a fairly nice day. High 74f, current 67f w/85% humidity. Spent
more time reading old QSTs on patio, first time ever, I have a tan!
More important, my solar panels were finally able to charge my batteries
after 6 days of darkness 😐
Bought a frozen pizza today, added some extra local ingredience and
dinner was a very welcome change of pace! Now fighting the urge to
have a nap 🙂
Hmmm, with NCS QSY, I found it worked better there. Just changed my
frequency to 3581.2 and WF to 1310. Put’s the net right in the middle
of the sweet spot on pass band and no more code practice heard!
Glad I am able to give the net a good chance at using the RELAY
features. Fire season makes for big QST’s from this QTH!

With ops like you we are able to use our NBEMS skills to offer a real service to the Amateur Radio community.
We would like to thank Doug K7KY and Mindy W7ZAP and all the ops from the ORCA Net for training and developing the many conventions and skills we use here.
Please check out the ORCA Net at this time (0230 ZULU) and frequency every Tuesday night!
We also encourage any and all ops who wish to provide fills, test modes, macros, etc., to use this frequency daily. This time and place on the band is becoming a
known ‘watering hole’ for all digital ops.
Thanks from the WDN team and good evening from Sonoma County, California!
