QST < K6ETA / NCS
Welcome to the Western Digital Net.
This West-of-the-Rockies digital traffic net endeavors to reach out to Amateur radio stations and provide traffic relay service:
— In times of poor voice propagation;
— In circumstances where accurate information needs to get through;
— To pass non-trivial traffic and QSTs to participating stations;
— To relay non-trivial information to remote stations;
— And to relay traffic for stations in challenging situations.
We serve the entire amateur radio community and can use our NBEMS capabilities and relay locations to assist voice nets, mobile stations, QRP stations and
to check DX and propagation. We are an FLDigi-based relay net for those using sound card systems. We can also forward your traffic beyond our net
(indicate DX if u have a sked, NTS, WL2K, BBS or Email).
All stations are welcomed.
HOW TO BREAK
If you need to break in, there are two methods. You can send a brief TUNE signal in between any TX or you can use Video ID just above or below *only when
NCS is not TXing.* NCS will acknowledge your break immediately to see what you need.
HOW TO SEND TRAFFIC AND QSTs
Please keep your traffic as brief as possible! Longer QSTs should be sent via FLAmp or FLMessage. Shorter traffic may be sent by KBD or FLMsg.
PLEASE TURN OFF AFC (bottom right of FLDigi)
When you check in use Pre-Tune or Video ID (to prevent doubles) then, if clear, send the following:
URCALL URName [ QRU | QNX | QST | QTC > CALLSIGN ]
QRU = available for Relays and Comments Round
QNX = In & Out (inactive)
Please wait to be acknowledged. Traffic and QSTs will be queued.
Once the traffic round is complete, NCS will call each station who have QSTs. Comments will follow.
So any check-ins please come now. < K6ETA / NCS
WDN < K6ETA / NCS OK So tonight we have a good roster and no formal traffic.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
It has been almost a year since we started working on the Western Digital Net which officially launched in February. In that time we have ironed out the mission and format of the net, NTS forwarding and DX relays. We have also grown to an average of 15-20 regular stations and many guests each week
Tonight will be the last WDN that I will NCS from my home antennas, though I may erect a temporary dipole each Thursday. The reason for this is I’m putting my house up for sale and the unsightly wires would cost me too much money if I leave them up.
The good news is my new property in the Mt Shasta, CA area will most likely have *much* better antennas! But the bad news is my signal may not be as good in the mean time – so I may not make the best NCS during the next few months
I will still try to keep things going, but if anyone would like to jump in and assist as NCS, that would assure that the net doesn’t lose any momentum. If you’re interested, please contact me (I’m good on QRZ).

I thought I had already installed the PAT winlink system on the new

success. Still don’t know what is up with that. Found ardopc_64

Still scratching my head on that one but it will be a really cool

Another solid net. Thanks for WDN, Steve. I hope we find the right Ops to run the show while you show ur house or u make a great temp antenna. You can consult with Bruce KB7VX our field antenna wizzard.
When you are the only station needing fills, send your REPORT directly after receiving the fill. No need to wait for a request for your REPORT; you’re the only station working NCS. Send your REPORT and save some net time.
Thunderstorms predicted 4 SW/OR tomorrow! BTN < K7KY

So here’s my update. We do have an offer and counter offer for a nice 2 acre 5 Bed house in Mount Shasta and our house goes on the market here in Petaluma at the end of the week. I’m covered in paint and weeds from the yard… sweating off the COVID gains. heh. More soon
Thanks for everyonne’s help and support!

KE6SLS < K6ETA / NCS Go ahead Jaye! < K6ETA
all right Stevo! I am wondering, are your winlink systems going down now as well?
de ke6sls k
KE6SLS < K6ETA / NCS Yes as of tomorrow all tall antennas will be gone and that just leaves me with a low-slund OCF Dipole 80M – 20M and a solitary Diamond X200 well and also a stealth full wave 20M vertical loop andtenna I work Australia with. But no big tall 80M dipole. So Winlink may be on when I am not on the air personally, but no guarantees. BTU < K6ETA
fb, I just remember when I moved, <OH LORD WHAT A MESS!> I hated looking all my HF and VHF stuff. I will feel for you. keep up the good work and I know you will sell the house in minutes if not sooner in that area. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a good fast
and comfortable move. It’s hard on the whole family but you guys are young and up for it!
okay, tnx for the great net. We’ll sort stuff out and move it along 🙂

Thank you for participating in the Western Digital Net!
With ops like you we are able to use our NBEMS skills to offer a real service to the Amateur Radio community.
We would like to thank Doug K7KY and Mindy W7ZAP and all the ops from the ORCA Net for training and developing the many conventions and skills we use here. Please check out the ORCA Net at this time (0330 ZULU) and frequency every Tuesday night!
We also encourage any and all ops who wish to provide fills, test modes, macros, etc., to use this frequency daily. This time and place on the band is becoming a known ‘watering hole’ for all digital ops.
Thanks from the WDN team and good evening from Sonoma County, California!
